CHURCH HISTORY

New_Hope_2019-IMG_8657[1].jpg

New Hope COGIC began in the home of Elder Franklin and wife Mary Hollie on January 22, 1989.  It was at this time Elder Hollie arose from prayer and spoke the words to his wife, “you can invite them now”.  Elder and Sister Hollie along with their son David were the initial three members of the church.

In February of this same year the church moved from Elder Hollie’s home to the home of  Brother David and Sister Robbie Snapp.  During this month the church was officially organized as well as various church officials appointed.  Afterwards in the following month of April, the church moved to an office space at 800 Park Avenue.  It was at this location Elder Anthony Graham and his family became a part of the New Hope body.   One year later on April 22, 1990, the church relocated again this time at their very first building made for traditional worship services.   This building was located at 404 S Kings Highway.  It was also during this year at the December church business meeting, Elder Anthony Graham was appointed as the assistant pastor.  Finally on August 22, 1998, the church moved to its current location at 303 S University Street.

Elder Hollie served faithfully for 27 years as the Pastor of New Hope with Mother Hollie supporting the church with her musical abilities.  The church grew and was blessed greatly under his leadership.  After 27 years of service and much prayer and consideration, Elder Hollie transitioned to the position of Pastor Emeritus and rendered the office of Pastor to Elder Graham on August 14, 2016.  The Lord is yet continuing to increase the membership under the leadership of Elder Graham and lives are being changed by the power of God!
